After learning as a young adult I was “pre-destined” to suffer from hypertension, I embarked on a wellness journey. Along the journey, I learned about health, diet and nutrition and adopted a plant-based diet, all while discovering the body has the ability to heal on its own. There were two beliefs I adopted. First was Hippocrates’ statement, food is medicine and medicine is food. Secondly, which is my favorite comes from Genesis 1:29, Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant (herb) on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.”
Health is your birth right, is one of the main core values and beliefs I carry with me. I believe a healthy home starts in the kitchen. Whether it’s making a healing pot of soup to fight a cold, a glass of fresh juice to fuel, detoxify and protect, an herbal oil or salve to ease and provide comfort for sore muscles or calm a diaper rash, herbs and plants are a gift from God and nature and help to support overall health and wellness.
Through divine guidance, I was led to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I received my training as a certified health coach. I’m also a juice therapist, plant-based educator and raw food chef with experience and knowledge of juicing and recipe development. I then received a certificate in herbal studies and plant medicine. All of these components are what lead me to create HOMade Herbal Kitchen.
Sandra enjoys spending time with the “greatest man on earth”, her husband Terrence, family and doing all things natural.
